Following a major fire, a straw store building at the farm suffered extensive damage.

C Jackson and Sons were appointed by the Farm to demolish the straw store and clear away all resulting debris.

The 650m² steel framed asbestos cement clad building and its contents was destroyed by the fire and as a result, asbestos cement debris was strewn over a wide area.

Working with Jackson Environmental personnel, we first removed external asbestos cement debris by hand picking.

The steel frame was demolished using one of our specialist 15 tonne excavators fitted with a metal cutting shear attachment

Fire damaged asbestos cement debris mixed with straw were removed using the 15 tonne excavator assisted with a 5 tonne excavator fitted with a bucket.

All works were carried out under fine mist spray control and background air test results were within acceptable levels.

In total 96 tonnes of asbestos waste were removed to landfill.

15 tonnes of scrap metal were recovered and sent for recycling.

The project was completed in two weeks.
