Enabling Works at Former NatWest Bank, Allhallows, Bedford

C Jackson & Sons were awarded the contract by Bedford Borough Council for enabling works to facilitate sale of the building.

We were Principle Contractor for the project which involved the construction of site hoardings, removal of asbestos, demolition and reinstatement works.

The former bank is located in Bedford town centre in a busy shopping area. Adjoining buildings are occupied and the car park to the rear of the building is used by staff from adjacent properties.

An ATM machine located on the ground floor of the building remained operational throughout the works

We established the site and isolated services leaving the ATM fully operational and accessible.

Jackson Environmental removed suspended ceilings, non-asbestos and asbestos containing floor coverings throughout and 430m² of asbestos containing floor tile adhesive by controlled grinding methods.

Internally we removed internal walls & partitions, fixed shop furniture, M&E equipment, lifts & dumbwaiter.

Externally we removed single storey buildings & hard paving.

Reinstatement works including casting new floor constructions in lift shaft penetrations and construction of a new masonry party wall.

The project was completed in 6 weeks
