With the building  assessed by engineers and deemed structurally unsafe C. Jacksons & Sons responded immediately to demolish the dangerous structure and clear the site. A job further complicated by the presence of known asbestos containing materials in the building.

Our works involved the demolition of 4Nr. fire damaged single storey school classrooms and adjacent areas.

This included careful removal of the heavily damaged gable wall without further damaging or disturbing asbestos materials inside the building footprint. This required careful hand picking of fire damaged asbestos containing materials followed by precise demolition of the gable wall using hand tools to ensure masonry arising drops outside the building footprint.

In conjunction with the demolition works, and aided by our sister company Jackson Environmental, various other asbestos containing materials were removed in order to make the site safe. This included removal of asbestos containing soffits, under cloak, floor tiles & floor tile adhesive.

The remainder of the damaged building was mechanically demolished down to ground slab level. All debris and materials arising from the work were cleared away leaving the site in a clean and tidy condition on completion.

A New School Year

Our supervisor Mark Gray was full of praise for his team. Giving them all an ‘A’ for effort and application.

The rapid response, hard work and commitment from everyone  to complete our works within 2 weeks allowed follow on contractors the time to install temporary classrooms and have the site ready for pupils first day of the school year. All within 5 weeks of the blaze.
